Ripe is seven musical soulmates who refuse to believe in a single definition of dance music. They are an unstoppable groove, an extended moment of ecstatic release, the catalyst for taking “just another night” and elevating it into something else entirely. They are the swagger of funk filtered through a rock anthem, a musical journey that somehow gets as stuck in your head as your favorite pop banger. They are the anchors of a rapidly growing community, a series of new friends becoming good friends becoming part of the extended family as their sound spreads and their world deepens. They are here to look at joy with the same depth as most people look at sadness, to find a happiness that is heavier and more meaningful than simply a distraction from the negative. Born all over, formed in Boston, Ripe is ready to bring the whole world to its feet.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Chelsea moved to Atlanta in 1996 where she developed the soul of the Southeast that can be heard in her music. After studying jazz guitar at the Atlanta Institute of Music, Chelsea began winning hearts performing throughout Atlanta and breaking through the feminine clichés. She is reinventing the image of females in music through her display of strong and unique songwriting with complex but catchy guitar style that she has been developing since the age of 11. Her live set is evocative of the spirit of the late 60’s. A funky groove, a reckless abandon, blistering solos, flower power, sunshine and rebellion. Her background vocal section flawlessly accentuates her command of the blues guitar, timbres fuse to create arrangements that are naturalistic and free spirited but simultaneously precise and intentional. The listener feels refreshed, invigorated and liberated, like a blue jay bathing in a fountain, singing sweet and sublime in a summer evening.
The Ries Brothers (pronounced ”Rees”), a duo from Tampa Bay, FL, blend rock, blues, funk, and reggae into a soulful-sophisticated sound. Older brother Charlie (22) sings lead vocals while simultaneously playing drums and keyboard bass giving the band it’s unique and full sound. Younger brother Kevin Jordan (19) completes the band’s “sonic creativity” on guitar, provides background vocals and co-writes many of their songs.
They recently completed a 27 city tour in support of G Love & Special Sauce. This spring the boys will appear at the Gasparilla Music Festival in Tampa, Fl., SunFest in West Palm Beach, Fl., and the California Roots Music & Arts Festival in Monterey, Ca. They have twice toured nationally as the opening act for the iconic band CHICAGO and did a 15 city tour opening for the late Butch Trucks (Allman Brothers) & The Freight Train Band. The brothers recently headlined their second show at “The House that Les Paul Built,” the legendary Iridium in NYC, with special guests Byron Isaacs of The Lumineers and Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez, founding member of the E Street Band and member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Ries Brothers have also opened for David Cook, Daughtry, Los Lonely Boys, REO Speedwagon, Little River Band, The Edgar Winter Band & The Family Stone among others. They have sold out three headlining shows at Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Murray Theatre in Clearwater, Florida. In the summer of 2013, the boys participated in the exclusive Los Angeles Grammy Museum’s Music Revolution Project at Ruth Eckerd Hall. In the summer of 2014 the boys were part of the Van’s Warped Tour in Florida. The Ries Brothers were named by The Tampa Bay Times as one of their favorite artists of 2015 and by Creative Loafing as a 2016 Breakout Artist. They have released 3 EP’s and a Live Concert DVD. Their first full album "The View From The Outside" , produced by Ted Bowne of Passafire, was released on November 10.
